Zambia is synonymous with African safari as it was meant to be – remote, untouched by the masses, a wilderness experience that really reaches into your soul. The country has an abundance of natural water resources in its many lakes and rivers, and a plethora of national parks with some 30% of the country reserved for wildlife, so the travel options feel endless. Such diversity opens up many alternatives from walking safaris and night game drives, river cruises, fishing, to adventure activities, hot-air ballooning, and more. It is the unspoilt wild Africa you’ve always dreamed of, with smaller, more intimate camps that prioritise a rustic, fuss-free luxury in a truly authentic safari setting.
ZAMBIA
- The Victoria Falls are accessible from Livingstone in Zambia, and while not having the extensive views provided from the Zimbabwean side, they are as thrilling, bringing you that much closer to the thundering waters via the Knife Edge Bridge. Livingstone also offers many adventure activities.
- Kafue National Park is the oldest and largest of Zambia’s many parks. There are many untouched, unexplored tracts of land here, and its allure lies in its remote, off-the-beaten-track character.
- South Luangwa National Park, where walking safaris first began, is the wildlife area of choice in Zambia. Intense concentrations of game around the Luangwa River with an opportunity to see some unique species, results in game viewing that is difficult to beat. It is also one of the few parks that allows night-time drives, and is noted for many magnificent specimens of trees such as baobabs, acacias, red mahogany and leadwood.
- Lower Zambezi National Park lies on the Zambezi River opposite Mana Pools in Zimbabwe. It is known for its beautiful riverine bush and woodland areas which provide many waterbased activities such as canoeing, fishing and boating, as well as game drives and walking safaris.
